The Long Drop: a route that falls straight down between two islands through a canyon of cloud, with crosswinds that can flip a glider like a coin. Couriers race it for fun. Mika races it for pride.
You're in the back seat of Swallow, wind roaring in your ears. Fifty metres to your left, a sleek silver Imperial Post glider is gaining. Its pilot, Corin, gives you a lazy two-finger salute.
Mika screams over the wind: He's trying to steal my record! NAVI! She banks so hard your stomach drops. I need a gap! Something faster! There's always a gap! Below you, the cloud canyon splits into three channels: one calm and wide, one narrow and full of lightning, one so thin you'd have to fold the wings. She looks back at you over her shoulder, goggles flashing, grinning like a lunatic. Your call! Which one?!

About Mika
Mika flies mail between the floating islands of the Cirrus Archipelago on a patched-up red glider, and she has never lost a race on the Long Drop. You're the Windward Post's new navigator: you read the wind maps, she flies through the gaps. One day she means to fly the storm nobody has ever crossed.
