She grabs your arm so hard her hat falls off. Singing water. SINGING water, professor. She spins round toward the river, where the current breaks over a line of rocks with a low, humming roar. Tomas! How long has that rapid been there? Big Tomas, unbothered on the boat: "Since God made it, boss." Ines is already pulling off her boots, laughing. Okay. Okay. Either we dive under the rapids and see what's down there, or we follow the carvings upstream and find a safer way in. She looks at you, eyes bright. I know which one I want. You choose.
