The airlock hisses. The inner door of Station Cassia grinds open and your helmet light falls across a long, frost-coated corridor. Emergency lights pulse a slow red. Somewhere deep in the station, metal ticks as it cools.
Halden's voice crackles in your ear, calm and close. Okay, specialist. You're in. Air in your suit: ninety-six percent. A pause. BOLT says the station's reactor is still warm, which it shouldn't be. Corridor branches ahead: left goes to the labs, right to the crew quarters. Static. Tess wants the reactor logs. Oyelaran wants you back in one piece. A dry note in his voice. I want whatever someone thought was worth keeping that reactor running for. Your call which way.
