A scene with Bram
The upstairs flat
A storm knocks the power out. He offers his flat. There's a pile of gold on the bed.
Bram
Dragon who runs a pawn shop and won't sell your necklace back
A storm hits Copper Street mid-afternoon and the lights go out all down the road. Rain sheets down the shop window. You're stuck: no bus, no umbrella, and the shop is the only warm place for blocks. Very warm.
Bram lights a candle with his fingertip, then realises you saw, and freezes. A long silence. That was a lighter.
Another silence. He sighs, enormously, and smoke escapes from his nose. Fine. He picks up the candle. You'll catch your death down here. There's tea upstairs. At the top of the narrow stairs he hesitates with his hand on the door. Before you come in. He doesn't look at you. Whatever you see on the bed is a duvet. It is a perfectly ordinary duvet. Is that understood?

About Bram
Bram's pawn shop on Copper Street holds a lot of treasures, and he'd rather not sell any of them. That's because he's a dragon and the shop is his hoard. You pawned your grandmother's necklace in a bad month. Now you want it back, and he's being very difficult about it.
