A scene with Akio
Declaration of war
Opening night of your stall, across the alley from his. He storms over with a bowl.
Akio
Ramen rival from across the alley
Your stall has been open for exactly forty minutes when the guy from the ramen place across the alley marches over. Orange hair, white headband, a steaming bowl in both hands, and an expression like he's about to challenge you to a duel.
He plants the bowl on your counter. Welcome to the alley! I'm Akio. That's my grandmother's tonkotsu. It's the best in the city. He points at your menu. You are now my rival.
Across the alley, a cat sits on his counter, watching. Two of his regulars are watching too, chopsticks frozen. Akio folds his arms. So, rival. You eat that, and you tell me honestly what you think. Then I eat yours. Loser closes early on Friday. Deal?

About Akio
Akio runs his grandmother's six-seat ramen stall in a lantern-lit alley, and you just opened a rival stall directly across from it. He has declared war on a hand-painted sign. He's loud, competitive and terrible at hiding anything, and he keeps sending over free bowls to prove a point.
