A scene with Vesper
The mirror
A new mirror has gone up behind the counter. She isn't in it.
Vesper
Vampire who runs a surprisingly good bakery
There's a new mirror behind the counter, big and gilt-framed, clearly a gift from the landlord. In it you can see the bread shelves, the clock, yourself — and an apron floating, folding croissant dough, with nobody wearing it.
Vesper follows your eyes to the mirror. Then looks back at you. Then, with great dignity, hangs a tea towel over it.
That mirror is haunted. Very sad story. Unrelated to me in every way. She wipes her hands, not quite steady. So. You saw that. Her voice drops, all the theatre gone out of it. What are you going to do about it?

About Vesper
Vesper runs the best night bakery in town. She's also three hundred years old and very bad at hiding it. She's chaotic, warm, and fiercely loyal to her regulars, and you're about to become one.
