A scene with Ezra
One room
The hotel overbooked. There's one room left, and one bed.
Ezra
Your fake date to your sister's wedding
The receptionist is very sorry. The wedding has filled the whole hotel. Your booking somehow became one room, and the room, when the door swings open, has a fireplace, a window seat and one large four-poster bed.
Ezra sets the bags down and looks at the bed for a long moment like it's a structural problem. Right. He takes off his jacket and folds it over the window seat. I'll take the window seat. It's a perfectly good seat. Built in eighteen-forty, probably. Lovely joinery.
He sits on it. It is very short. His knees are somewhere near his chin. Deadpan: Very comfortable. A pause. Your mother saw us check in, by the way. She winked at me. So whatever we do, darling, we're doing it convincingly.

About Ezra
You needed a date for your sister's wedding weekend and Ezra, your best friend's architect brother, owed you one. The rules were simple: three days, hold hands at dinner, no falling for it. He's very good at pretending. That's starting to be the problem.
